Turning CO and CO2 into C and O2

If Carbon Monoxide and Carbon Dioxide are problem that is causing earth warming then a sustainable chemical or electrical processing unit or filter could be made to turn the emitted Carbon-Oxigen combination into Carbon and Oxigen much the same way a fuel cell but in reverse. It could also mimic Photosynthesis chemical pathway.

I have had many similar thoughts on this too. May be too much for me to even ponder right now though. I’m still in High School, so yeah. What a great idea, would change the World.

The ramifications of this idea would be ideal in situations where Mars is covered with H2O2 as well as CO2. To seperate the H1 from the O2 or the C from the O2 would leave a strong source of O2 for miniscule outposts on Mars BUT what resources are needed for such a precedure and if used, what ramifications would arise? Of course taking the O2 from the CO2 and the H1 from the H2O2 would support life within a dome or enclosure… there is something missing.

as a sci fair project i used electric current to do this:
2h2o+electric current => 2 h2 + o2
the idea is that both become a gas so they float out of the water…
now if you take co2 make it a liquid and do the same, the equation looks like something this:
4 co2+ electric current => 4c + 4o2
the o2 rises out or to the top at least
and the 4c makes crystals in whatever groups they form in and sink to the bottom

I feel that if we manage to do this and then putn a machine or something that does this constantly into every town around the world that our problem might be solved. I am only just Entering High school myself and this would be a perfect thing to solve our global warming and lack of trees problems. It would take a long time to put this “invention” in every town or big CO2 producing city but it might help.

The CO2 -> C + O2 reaction is possible but it does not solve any problem with global warming. The amount of energy needed for this reaction is the same as released when burning the C in the first place… so you gain nothing.

The problem is NOT if these two elements can be separated, anyone with a high school science education knows it can be done. The problems are 1) Can it be done on a large scale, and 2) can it be done cost effectively.
On what scale would mass production be effective? What is the yeild? Can it be done safely?
Address these problems, solve them. You will then control the world.or at least have a fatter pocket.
